Customer Story
“Recently, I was at Starbucks (Danforth & Pape) working away on my laptop. I was drinking a regular drip coffee and I was there for about an hour and a half. The place was busy and I was waiting for them to ask me to bug off, these tables aren't for doing your office work, etc, but they never did. I went back for a refill of decaf Christmas blend, and they gave it to me free of charge. Not much to complain about there. I think Starbucks deserves SOME praise for being consistent and a nice place to have a coffee.”
Barista Story
"the holiday season. People are always in a hurry and need to
get in and out fast. I had a lady come to my line and order her drink. When
she saw her total, she realized she didn't have enough money on her. I just
smiled, looked at the total and gave her the drink ‘On me’. She looked as if
I had just given her a major gift. She thanked me several times. I just
smiled again and said it was no problem, it was my pleasure. She asked me
for my name before she left. Thinking nothing of it I told her, Katherine,
and went on to the next customer. I went about my shift, and took my lunch.
When I came back a fellow barista gave me a card saying it was dropped off
for me. Inside was a lovely card with a personal message from the customer.
She thanked me for not causing a commotion when she was short on cash and
thanked me for showing the holiday spirit. She said she wasn't made of money
but if she could she would have given me a larger tip. She had included a
5.00 tip in the card. However for me the card was more then enough of a
thank you. It was BEYOND what I has expected. I was happy to be able to give
her the drink and see her smile. The card moved me so. I still have that
card to this day and I tell the story each time I am in customer service
class.”
